Can Gio Reserve in Ho Chi Minh City Nominated as Ramsar Site
The administration of Ho Chi Minh City has proposed the ministry to issue guidelines that will enable the city to complete the necessary procedures and work for the nomination of the Can Gio Biosphere Reserve as a Ramsar site. The Ramsar Convention is an international treaty signed in Iran in 1971, which provides a framework for the conservation and effective use of wetlands and resources. The Can Gio Biosphere Reserve meets four out of eight criteria of a Ramsar site, and it boasts the uniqueness of a natural wetland. The reserve is home to various rare and endangered species of animals and serves as a stop for over 20,000 birds. Additionally, it provides a favorable habitat and reproduction place for diverse fish species.
