Farmers partake in plowing competition in central Vietnam

The event took place at a paddy field in An Thanh Village, Duy Trung Commune, Duy Xuyen District.

Nestled under the mountains, the paddy field in An Thanh Village entered the plowing season a few days ago to prepare for the winter-spring crop.

Each participant was required to pay VND200,000 (US$8).

Combined with contributions from local residents and businesses, the total sum was used as cash prizes for the winners.

The competition included two official rounds, following each of which four contestants were selected for the first, second, third, and consolation prizes.

After the two rounds, the four contestants with the highest scores entered another round to compete for the special prize.

The participants were also the judges as they scored each other’s performance.

The competition was regarded as an opportunity for local farmers to exchange their skills and experience.
