Planting 1,000 saplings in a nature reserve in north-central Vietnam

carried out a reforestation campaign to plant 1,000 trees in Dakrong Nature Reserve in Quang Tri Province, north-central Vietnam.

The four students attending Le Quy Don High School in Quang Tri’s Dong Ha City sowed a total of 1,000 saplings of breeds native to Dakrong Nature Reserve within one day, the provincial chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union confirmed on the same day.

The initiative, called ‘Green Era,’ started in August and raised over VND120 million (US$4,884), all of which was used to purchase the 1,000 saplings.

After planting trees on one hectare of land in Dakrong Nature Reserve, the group plans to launch another fundraising campaign to expand reforestation efforts to a different area.

Ha Si Dong, the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province’s permanent deputy chairman, praised ‘Green Era’ as a meaningful, practical, and responsible campaign.

“This project prompts considerable contemplation among adults,” affirmed Dong.
